This year will be the 9th year honoring and celebrating Military Mothers with "Adopt a Military Mom for Mother's Day". This event was created by Grace Witt as she was searching for a way to reach out to military mothers in an act of compassion after the United States entered into war with Iraq and Afghanistan. The national organization called the Blue Star Mothers, Inc. is a non-political and non-profit organization chartered by Congress during World War II. The organization was created specifically to support our troops and veterans in a variety of ways. Their multifaceted mission: includes providing military family support, helping injured and disabled veterans, sending much needed care packages to active military personnel around the world, supporting families of the fallen, fundraising and volunteerism.
The South Bay Blue Star Moms organization offered Grace the opportunity to connect with a number of incredible and brave women. Through attending local meetings and speaking with many military moms regarding their concerns and fears, Grace was inspired to create "Adopt a Military Mom for Mother's Day". Because so many military sons and daughters are deployed and cannot be with their mother's on Mother's Day, Grace's hope is that this special event helps to ease the pain and sadness these mothers face knowing their children may very well be in harms way. This is a way to support our military men and women by doing something for their moms on this special day when they cannot. A simple but powerful act of compassion from one person to another. Through the generosity of individuals and businesses, such as yourselves, this event has become a successful reality, catching the attention of many newspapers and TV stations such as ABC, CBS, KPIX, KGO, NBC and KTVU Channel 2.

This year's event is being held on Saturday, May 11th at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. We invite you to adopt a military mom at the contributory levels listed on the Adoption Tab at the top. Your adoption provides your military mom(s) with a beautiful brunch, a variety of gifts, entertainment and an afternoon to connect and share with other military mothers. It truly is an incredible day and one that you can attend as well. To attend the brunch and meet your mom(s) in person the cost would be an additional $40.00. It will be an experience you will not soon forget. Although this event started with "Blue" Star Mothers it has been a great privilege to have Silver Star Mothers (mothers of wounded soldiers) and Gold Star Mothers (mothers of fallen soldiers) attend the event.
